Job Description
The
Senior UX Designer
will be responsible for creating a positive and productive end-user experience for Texas Education Agency (TEA) applications and websites, maintaining a user-centric focus throughout product development. This role will design solutions that enhance education technology integration, enabling parents, teachers, schools, and district leaders to focus on student success. Working under minimal supervision with significant latitude for independent judgment, the Senior UX Designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions align with agency-wide design standards and best practices.

Responsibilities: • Oversee UX/UI designs to ensure decisions are grounded in user experience and align with agency and industry standards • Translate research into user stories, requirements, flows, wireframes, and prototypes, contributing to the product roadmap • Conduct user testing and outreach to ensure products meet end-user needs • Partner with product teams, stakeholders, and leadership to develop and explain design solutions and rationales • Collaborate with internal and external product designers, developers, and product managers • Ensure compliance with federal accessibility guidelines in all design work • Document and present usability research findings to influence design improvements • Lead large-scale UX/UI initiatives from concept to implementation

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: •
8+ years
in software product development, digital design, UX/UI, or related field •
8+ years
designing mockups and/or wireframes adhering to UX best practices •
8+ years
conducting user and usability research •
5+ years
with strong writing and organizational skills •
5+ years
with strong communication and facilitation skills •
4+ years
leading large-scale UX/UI efforts •
4+ years
developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using Figma or similar tools •
3+ years
ensuring designs/websites comply with federal accessibility standards • Portfolio demonstrating user research, visual design, and usability studies

Travis State Building, 1701 North Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78701 • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time, excluding Texas state holidays • Occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed and approved • Travel may be required with pre-approval; expenses reimbursed per State of Texas travel guidelines
