Join the Dam Safety Planning Team as an Emergency Services Coordinator (ESC).
In this position, you'll be on a team providing guidance and support to dam owners, local governments, and state and federal partners. You'll help shape the future of dam safety by reviewing complex Emergency Action Plans, analyzing critical legislation, and developing strategic policies to enhance emergency preparedness across the state.
The ESC reviews and completes technical work products, ensuring the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. The ESC also collaborates with stakeholders to provide expert advice and support on Emergency Action Plans. This position evaluates legislative proposals, and help shapes forward-thinking policies that strengthen dam safety and resilience.
In addition, this position also provides support to the State Operations Center during dam safety incidents or extreme weather events and will present and participate in various dam safety trainings and exercises. Be a part of our team and contribute to making California a safer place for all!

Working Conditions Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
DMV PULL Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver's License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. The Planning, Preparedness, and Prevention Directorate develops and maintains statewide plans and planning guidance for local emergency management, state agencies, and tribal governments, including specialized programs for radiological preparedness, dam safety, seismic hazards, and earthquake early warning. This directorate also includes the California Specialized Training Institute which provides exercise support and courses in emergency management, hazardous materials response, criminal justice/officer safety, fire & rescue, and crisis communications.
In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
