2nd shift (3:45 PM - 12:15 AM); 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM every 4th weekend
Job Summary:
Fulton County Health Center is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented LPN, Surgical Tech or Certified Sterile Processing Technician with previous leadership experience in sterile processing, to join our Sterile Processing Department as a Shift Supervisor. Under the direction of the RN and SPD Department Manager, this role supervises and participates in all aspects of decontamination, sterilization, and processing of surgical instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will be an experienced LPN, Surgical Tech or SPD Tech who excels in sterile technique, infection control, and workflow coordination, and who thrives in a fast-paced, team-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and assembly of surgical instruments and equipment Monitor, direct, and support the work of SPD Technicians and Surgical Technicians Ensure all infection prevention protocols and department standards are consistently followed Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and physician teams to provide timely, accurate support Track inventory, manage documentation, and recover charges through internal systems Maintain morgue-related SPD responsibilities Participate in quality improvement and infection control data collection Manage shift-to-shift departmental operations and serve as the on-site SPD leader Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in an acute care hospital or surgery center, Sterile Processing, Central Service, or Surgery Department preferred. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), or LPN. CST must be a graduate from an accredited school with current certification through NBSTSA. CRCST must be certified through HSPA or CBSPD. LPN must be currently licensed with the Ohio Board of Nursing. Must continue to maintain competency with continuing education courses. Preference given to individuals experienced and competent in robotic, orthopedic, and general surgical instrument cleaning & reprocessing procedures. Must operate Sterrad sterilizer and biologicals independently. Ability to work closely and communicate well with the department manager, surgery department, and in high pressure, fast-paced settings. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong working knowledge of infection prevention and sterile processing practices is expected. Requires exceptional vision for intricate instrument inspection, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
