Job Requirements:
Sequoia Services is seeking a Concrete Project Manager / Estimator with demonstrated experience in heavy civil/industrial concrete construction, preferably in dam construction and rehabilitation. This is a key role within our operations team responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and overseeing project execution from pre-construction through closeout.
Under the direction of the Senior Project Management Team, the Project Manager / Estimator will: • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bids for heavy civil construction projects, with an emphasis on concrete scopes including mass pours, structural slabs, intake/outlet structures, spillways, and flatwork • Manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and material procurement throughout project lifecycle • Interpret drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and construction documents to develop accurate takeoffs and pricing • Collaborate with field superintendents, engineers, and owners to ensure timely delivery and successful execution of projects • Assist in identifying and mitigating project risks while tracking change orders and scope modifications • Support procurement by soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes • Track job costs and report financial performance metrics to company leadership • Coordinate with field staff to ensure constructability and maintain schedule compliance • Generate project schedules and coordinate preconstruction submittals and documentation • Develop and maintain positive client and vendor relationships throughout project execution
Required Skills & Experience: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil estimating or project management • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required • Experience with Hard Dollar and/or AGTEK is a strong plus • Deep understanding of concrete construction practices related to civil infrastructure such as dams, spillways, cofferdams, intake structures, and foundations • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, details, and specifications • Familiarity with construction methods, materials, production rates, and sequencing for heavy civil scopes • Strong math and analytical skills; ability to compute areas, volumes, and production durations with precision • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and best practices for construction environments • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with dam construction and/or industrial concrete practices • Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical degree preferred but not required
Physical Requirements: • Must be able to travel to and walk around active construction sites in varied terrain and weather • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, and use hands regularly in a field or office setting • Must be comfortable working in both office and on-site environments
Working Conditions: • Work will be performed in both field and office settings • Field visits may include exposure to hot or cold temperatures, noise, dust, and uneven surfaces • Appropriate PPE (hard hat, vest, safety glasses, work boots, gloves) must be worn on active job sites • Schedule may involve 10+ hour workdays during peak construction periods
