Description
The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for representing the museums identity through digital platforms. This is achieved by executing social media strategies, managing web content, formulating online advertising, writing compelling stories, and executing email marketing campaigns in support of Science Museum Oklahomas mission. Must possess excellent knowledge of various social platforms and content trends. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for success in this role. While primary responsibilities are focused on digital strategies this position also supports the overall marketing and PR strategies of the museum.
Develops creative and engaging content for communication platforms including social media, website and e-newsletter Write original copy with a clear and distinctive voice that represents SMO in a range of marketing and communications materials including reports, website, social media, email campaigns, newsletters and possibly blogs Coordinates and grows the museums social media presence across all platforms while engaging and responding to comments, messages and reviews Measures and monitors digital traffic, social media, Google Analytics, and adjusts campaigns and strategies as needed Works collaboratively with the Communications team in developing and executing marketing campaigns and with the Creative Media Strategist to implement branding and graphic designs appropriately. Monitors the museums online presence and reputation, responding when appropriate or referring for action as needed Research audience demographics, preferences, and consumer profiles to conceive campaigns with compelling call to actions using the most effective media method Helps to maintain and execute a large promotional calendar with many moving parts. Develops, monitors, writes, edits, proofreads, and updates website content and pages as needed Creates and monitors Google Ads and Meta ads, making adjustments as needed Builds relationships with influencers, content creators, customers, and other partners to create an engaged community Conducts research and analysis of marketing conditions, identifying new opportunities and staying current with the latest trends Tracks analytics and generating reports and presentations to director monthly Develops regular, engaging content specific to platforms such as Tiktok. Effectively communicates and promotes SMO events, exhibits, and programs Maintains positive, collaborative relationships with all departments Ensures SEO tracking quality such as Meta tagging and AdWords, creates engaging and fluid website content, and content accuracy for SMOs website on an ongoing basis and makes changes and updates as needed Other duties as required
Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field or commensurate experience At least 3 years of professional content management, communications writing, and analytics reporting Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required. Advanced writing and editing skills, including utilizing AP style and storytelling skills Experience with Adobe Creative Suite Demonstrated experience with social media platforms including Tiktok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Digital ad creation, purchasing, A/B testing, preferred Wordpress or equivalent, GoogleAds, SEO and blog writing, preferred
Availability Requirements
Regular business hours (Monday-Friday). Evenings, weekends, and early mornings required when appropriate for job duties

Working Conditions
This position works in an active and busy museum setting. This position works in a climate controlled office setting and may be subjected to a fast-paced decision making environment.
Work involves frequent standing and walking for long periods of time. Some duties are performed from a seated position. May require working on a computer for long periods of time, using a keyboard, viewing a digital screen. Work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
This position requires the employee to drive for occasional business purposes in either their own vehicle or a vehicle provided by the Museum. Employees that drive for business purposes must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check and provide proof of insurance and a valid license to drive on an annual basis.
Employee must be able to meet physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
