Telecommunications Project Engineer
Position Details
Contract Length: [Contract Length] Location: Rolling Meadows, IL Work Setup: Hybrid (Tues/Wed/Thurs onsite, Mon & Fri remote) Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch) Travel: 1 day every 3-4 weeks for site visits in outer markets Join our innovative telecommunications team dedicated to expanding and enhancing 4G and 5G network infrastructure. As a Telecommunications Project Engineer, you will oversee cell site modification projects from start to finish, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality installations. Telecommunications Project Engineer Responsibilities
Manage 4G and 5G tower modification projects with general contractors, focusing on Ericsson radios, antennas, hybrids, and associated cabling. Review RF datasheets, adjust construction drawings, and ensure compliance with design specifications. Create Bills of Materials, order equipment, and track inventory with contractors. Coordinate with Real Estate, RF, and Network Operations teams to implement site upgrades. Perform site surveys, bid walks, and shelter/tower asset evaluations. Track monthly budgets and forecast spending based on project workload. Lead project close-out reviews to ensure quality and completeness. Telecommunications Project Engineer Qualifications Required:
Associate degree or 5+ years of equivalent telecommunications experience. Strong project management and communication skills. Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets (including data management). Experience reviewing RF datasheets and construction drawings. Proven ability to manage hardware ordering and inventory control. Preferred/Nice-to-Have:
Ericsson 4G/5G hardware expertise. HVAC and -48v DC power plant experience. Familiarity with project management software (e.g., FUZE). Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Macros). Financial tracking software experience.
