YOUR ROLEAs an Operations team member, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering world class customer service and capabilities to our policyholders – now and in the future. We are revolutionizing the analytics space in the Long-Term Care (LTC) Insurance industry via intuitive design, innovative solutions, and creative thought leadership. Using the latest analytic tools and processes, we are able to analyze our data to provide strategic insight leading to transformational change. We have repeatedly shown the value of our analytics team and continue to invest in our growing data science team. To help carry us even further, we are seeking an Associate Data Scientist to join our expanding, problem-solving team, supporting LTC Operations. This is a new role reporting to the Senior Data Science Manager in Operations Analytics, who is looking for a data-oriented individual with a self-starter attitude to join our expanding, problem-solving team. This individual will harness the power of data to enhance the analytics and predictive capabilities on our customers and processes, forecast trends, and provide analytical solutions for our business operations.What you will be doingUse programming skills to explore, examine and interpret large-scale data in various formsDetermine the appropriate techniques to manipulate complex high-volume data, develop insights through analysis and modelling, evaluate business problems and improve our analytical speed-to-insightPerform data mining and analyzing of structured and unstructured data associated with claims, policy, payment activities to solve complex business problems using advanced techniques and leveraging industry cutting-edge technologyBuild automated dashboards and reports to monitor operational trends to promote a self-service culture for business partnersCollaborate with data scientists and business analysts to understand project goals, gather business requirements, and develop analytical solutions to support our vision and strategyInteract with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization and expertiseWhat you bringBachelor’s degree in a mathematics, data science, statistics, operations research, or other analytical or technical disciplineA passion for problem solving, intellectual curiosity, and a customer experience mindsetSubject matter expertise in advanced analytical and computational modeling data capabilities, utilizing PythonResults-oriented, self-motivated, and the ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency and accountability for business problemsBuild collaborative and effective relationships with business partnersStrong verbal/written communication skills to non-technical audiencesExperience with database Rational Database Management System (RDBMS) technologies (e.g., SQL server, Greenplum, Oracle)Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Azure, Hadoop, Spark, Hive)Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Spotfire, Tableau, Python)Adherence to standard practices and use of version control tools such as GitHub/GitLab Employee Benefits & Well-BeingGenworth employees make a difference in people’s lives every day. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 7% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
