Mechanical Engineer
Lead and mentor a small team of mechanical engineers to deliver high-quality hardware solutions for Lifepoint's RF and optical test equipment. This role spans mechanical design of chassis, PCB interface, RF shields and enclosures. Other responsibilities include: Create detailed mechanical designs and documentation, including parts assembly drawings. Perform tolerance analysis to ensure proper fit and function of mechanical components. Design and implement thermal management solutions, from simulation through final product integration. Run thermal and structural simulations using tools such as SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation. Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to optimize the mechanical-electrical interface and layout. Select suitable materials and manufacturing processes to meet thermal and mechanical performance targets. Engage with vendors and suppliers to address design for manufacturability (DFM), cost optimization, and lead time. Build and test functional prototypes to support design validation. Apply DFM/DFX best practices in component and assembly design. Verify designs against functional and design requirements through design verification testing (DVT). Participate in mechanical design reviews throughout the product development lifecycle. Identify and collaborate with suppliers to ensure parts and assemblies meet specifications. Support the operations team in improving product assembly features and manufacturing efficiency. Oversee and maintain the SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) system. BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering All About You Hands-on experience with E/M packaging layout and design including sheet metal, plastics, cabling, PCBA Packaging. Proven experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM Proven experience with electronic packaging and thermal design. Proven experience with thermal management, problem solving, utilizing heat transfer principles (conduction, convection, radiation). Proven experience of thermal and airflow testing - Thermocouples, DAQ (Data acquisition), anemometer (airflow), wind tunnel. Knowledge of manufacturing processes. Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 and GD&T standards. Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $155,200 - $244,500. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
