Food Safety Technician - Full Time
Santa Monica Seafood, First in Food Safety, is looking for the next leader to join our team. We are an industry leader providing the highest quality and selection of seafood products.
The Food Safety Technician monitors programs and procedures to ensure food safety and regulatory compliance of our process and product. The operation meets Seafood HACCP requirements and is FSSC 22000 - GFSI certified.
Responsibilities include: Conduct plant walk-through audits and pre-operation inspections; scheduled temperature, metal detector, and label accuracy checks. Monitor and verify Receiving, Production, Logistics, Sanitation records, and activities. Upload and verify records on a cloud-based food safety management system. Support quality system activities such as employee training, supplier assessments, sample collection, regulatory inspections, and customer audits.

Qualifications:
- Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel), comfortable with computer and learning software applications
- Working conditions are in a food processing environment requiring to spend time in refrigerated production areas, coolers, warehouse, laboratory, plant exterior, etc.
- Physical activities include walking, standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Experience in and/or knowledge of food production, GMPs, food safety, sanitation
- Able to communicate professionally and respectfully with management, employees, and external visitors
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Knowledge of HACCP, Seafood products and food safety audits preferred, training available
