Licensed Practical Nurse in Greenwood, SC :

Part-time Every other weekend, Sat-Sun 6am-6pm

The Burton Center is looking for motivated individuals to take on the role of a licensed practical nurse. This position is at the Bonds Intermediate Care facility in Greenwood, SC. Job Description: The LPN will be delegated the responsibility by the Operations Manager or Deputy Director in areas of health maintenance, prevention of illness and accidents and the administration of medication to individuals. Responsibilities will include: Administer medication on schedule according to approved measures including documentation of each dose at the time given. Observe individuals for possible side effects of medication. Ensure a continuous supply of medication by reordering through the pharmacist when necessary and making certain supply for individuals who will leave during a scheduled medication period. Teach individuals about their medications and general measures according to a defined teaching program with behavioral objectives. Participate in the self-administration teaching program when ordered by physician Remain with an individual or staff in cases of sudden illnesses or injury while assistance is being obtained. Monitor for and schedule all required laboratory work, x-rays, immunizations, dental and vision exams, speech and hearing evaluations to include obtaining reports for these services and filing the reports in the medical section of individual's chart. Observe for and inspect individuals and staff for signs of illness, especially Infectious illnesses, and completing body audits as necessary. Review each individual's records for new and standing medical orders. Complete 60-day medical orders. Complete monthly weight charts. Do vital signs on individuals monthly or as needed and documents these in the medical section of chart. Complete seizure records monthly as indicated. Prepare medication administration records for each individual monthly. Consult with Director of Nursing and Dietician in reference to dietary needs of individuals and prepares a monthly diet roster. Document all pertinent medical information in the medical section of chart on an ongoing basis. Complete medical section of initial and yearly developmental assessment for individuals. Attend staffings and PDR's as needed. Prepares for PDR's. Observe for and inspect the environment, especially the kitchen for unhealthy or potentially hazardous conditions. Completes a monthly infection control report. Keep the nursing, medical, dental sections of chart updated and in order. Transport individuals for medical appointments. Assist in coverage in emergency situations. Accompanies individual at hospital as necessary. Assist individual with feeding if on feeding tube.

Required Qualifications: Nursing degree from an accredited school Valid SC Driver's License One year of experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs Current SC Board of Nursing License Preferred Qualifications: Clear oral and written communication skills Lift 25lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally Ability to care and advocate for others Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and squat Ability to stand or walk for long period of time Ability to drive and transport individuals including wheel chair bound.
