North Lawndale College Prep Alumni Coordinator - 12 month position Position Summary The Alumni Coordinator at North Lawndale College Prep (NLCP) plays a critical role in supporting graduates as they navigate their post-secondary pathways, whether in college, the military, or the workforce. The Alumni Coordinator provides direct advising, resources, and engagement opportunities to ensure that NLCP alumni persist in and complete their chosen pathways successfully. This individual will track alumni outcomes, offer career and college readiness support, and cultivate an engaged alumni network that remains connected to NLCP. Through structured programming, data-driven interventions, and community partnerships, the Alumni Coordinator will help bridge the gap between high school and post-secondary success for NLCP graduates. Reports To: Director of Postsecondary Counselor Position Responsibilities
Alumni Advising and Support Maintain a caseload of alumni and provide one-on-one advising on college persistence, transfer processes, financial aid navigation, and career pathways. Develop individualized student success plans and intervention strategies for alumni experiencing academic or personal challenges. Build relationships with current Juniors and Seniors in support of future alumni support work. Support alumni in understanding and maintaining college financial aid packages, including FAFSA renewal and scholarship applications. Assist alumni with job placement, internship opportunities, and career mentorship connections. Provide outreach and support to alumni not currently enrolled in college and develop re-engagement plans. Data Collection and Progress Monitoring Track alumni progress, including academic standing, persistence, graduation rates, and career outcomes. Manage and update an alumni database that monitors college enrollment, degree completion, and employment. Analyze alumni data to inform program improvements and provide updates to school leadership on trends in alumni success. Collaborate with the College and Career Office to ensure smooth transitions for students from high school to post-secondary experiences. Alumni Engagement and Events Plan and host alumni events, including homecoming gatherings, reunions, career networking sessions, and workshops. Develop and facilitate a structured Alumni Advisory Committee to engage graduates in leadership and mentorship roles. Maintain consistent communication with alumni via newsletters, social media, and personal outreach. Organize college visits, career panels, and networking events to connect alumni with resources and support systems. Serve as the primary point of contact between NLCP alumni and the broader school community. Community and College Partnerships Develop relationships with local colleges, universities, and employers to enhance support services for alumni. Establish partnerships with community organizations to provide career readiness training, internships, and mentorship opportunities. Collaborate with college support programs to ensure NLCP alumni receive campus-based resources. Identify and secure financial aid and scholarship opportunities specifically for NLCP graduates. Professional Development and Institutional Collaboration Work closely with NLCP leadership to align alumni support with the school's broader post-secondary success initiatives. Provide training to high school counselors and staff on alumni support best practices. Participate in professional development related to college access, career development, and alumni engagement strategies. Support the implementation of college and career readiness curricula for current students, bridging the gap between high school and post-secondary success. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field (Master's preferred). Minimum of three (3) years of experience in counseling, alumni relations, college access, or student support services. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, families, and post-secondary institutions. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage data and track student outcomes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with financial aid, FAFSA, and college persistence strategies preferred. Willingness to travel for alumni visits, conferences, and college partnerships. Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Passion for student success and a belief that all students can persist in and complete post-secondary pathways. Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid processes, and career readiness frameworks. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with school leadership and external partners. Strong problem-solving and strategic planning skills to support alumni in overcoming challenges. Commitment to equity and social justice in education, particularly in serving underrepresented student populations. Good level of proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Drive) and general computer applications Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and interact with students and staff. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Frequent work in a school setting with a moderate to loud noise level. Travel required for alumni outreach and post-secondary institution visits. Conditions of Employment Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Compliance with all board policies, ISBE requirements, and relevant educational laws and regulations.
