Mechanical Design Engineer
to join our Power Transformers team in
Washington, Missouri .

? What You’ll Be Doing You’ll design
3-phase, 50/60 Hz power transformers
up to
100,000 KVA
and
161,000 volts . Your work will
directly support
our customers’ energy infrastructure across
the U.S. and beyond .
Your day-to-day might include: Reviewing customer specs and translating them into engineering requirements Designing tanks, accessories, and internal structures using 3D CAD Performing structural calculations and preparing general arrangement drawings Creating bills of materials and manufacturing documentation Collaborating with customers and internal teams to resolve technical challenges Writing manuals and work instructions (yes, we know—less glamorous, but still VERY important) Why WEG? ? What You’ll Bring to the Role
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering
or a related field from an
accredited U.S. university Proficiency with
AutoCAD
and
3D/2D CAD software
(e.g., Inventor,
SolidWorks ) Strong command of
Microsoft Excel
and ability to present technical content with
PowerPoint Ability to work
on-site
in Washington, Missouri to support production and cross-functional collaboration Authorized to work in the United States Completion of:
an application ,
talent assessment, interview ,
background check , and
drug screen
(including THC, as role will be safety-sensitive). Preferred Qualifications Degree from a
Missouri-based or regional university
(e.g., Missouri S&T, Mizzou, Missouri State, UMSL, WashU) Veteran of U.S. military or naval forces
with mechanical design experience 4+ years of experience
designing
medium to high-power transformers
(15,000 KVA / 69kV and above), ideally with
load tap changers Familiarity with
ANSI/IEEE ,
NEMA , or
IEC
transformer standards Experience optimizing designs for
manufacturability ,
cost , and
performance Collaborative mindset with a
team-first attitude Adaptable, curious, self-starter with a passion for
continuous improvement Candidates should live within a
reasonable commuting distance
to Washington, Missouri Limited regional relocation
may be considered for exceptional candidates
