Position Summary:

We are seeking

motivated and energetic individuals with a background in athletics, physical activity, or engaging activities to connect with children , to join our team as

Recreational Therapy Assistants . This role is ideal for athletes, coaches, or active individuals who are passionate about working with children and eager to share their sport or activity in a structured, therapeutic setting.

You will be trained to support and lead recreational therapy sessions for

preschool and elementary-aged children

with diverse developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs. Candidates must be focused, reliable, and able to engage directly with children without the use of personal devices or distractions.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach and incorporate your personal sport or physical activity (e.g., dance, martial arts, fitness, etc.) into therapeutic sessions

Support the structure and goals of daily recreational therapy programs

Remain

attentive and physically attached

to assigned children throughout the session

Assist in implementing strategies that support physical, emotional, and social development

Collect and maintain accurate

session data

and complete

DAP notes

(training provided)

Follow all clinic safety policies and behavior support procedures

Collaborate professionally with team members, supervisors, and families

Qualifications:

Background in

athletics, physical activity, fitness, coaching , or other engaging structured activities

Ability to lead children in movement-based activities in a therapeutic or classroom setting

Comfortable working

without cell phones, smartwatches, headphones , or personal tech while on shift

Focused, patient, and reliable with a strong desire to support children with

diverse developmental needs

Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Willingness to learn clinical documentation and therapeutic engagement techniques

Must be

18 years or older

Previous experience with children preferred, but not required

Compensation & Growth:

Starting pay is

$18.00 per hour , with an opportunity to increase to

$20.00 per hour

within 90 days based on productivity and performance

Hands-on training provided in recreational therapy and child behavioral support

Opportunities for advancement and specialized training in the behavioral health field

Schedule:

Flexible part-time hours available- Works Schedules are typically as follows: 7:15am - 12pm, 12pm- 4:00pmMonday, Wednesday and friday. Saturday 9:00am - 2:00pm These hours can be changed depending on client needs.

Shifts may include

weekdays or Saturdays

All staff must be able to complete a

4-hour shift

while maintaining full client engagement and attention
