Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary: The Director of Development, School of Law at Loyola University Chicago is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding Donors for Major and Planned Gifts to advance strategic priorities of the School & University and achieve goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the total range of fundraising activities (Identification, Qualification, Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship) of an assigned portfolio of Prospects and Donors.
  • Make a defined number of visits and solicitations per year designed to move Prospects toward making a philanthropic commitment to the University.
  • Provide support to the Dean of the School of Law.
  • Write and edit correspondence, proposals, and reports to Prospective Donors and Major Gift Donors.
  • Prepare timely Contact Reports on meetings and interactions with Prospects and Donors.
  • Coordinate appointments and prepare any needed materials for meetings, visits or phone calls with Deans, the President, Alumni Volunteers, or other Senior Administrators.
  • Work collaboratively to facilitate the Qualification, Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship of Prospects.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in fundraising preferably in a Higher Education environment is required.
  • Preference for demonstrated success in making and closing five and six figure Gift solicitations from individual Donors.
  • Must have demonstrated, successful track record of Donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Demonstration of 3 – 5 years of tenure and longevity at previous employers is required.

Qualifications

  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience working with Staff and Volunteers.
  • The ability to manage complex relationships, and proven collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Fundraising databases and technology.
  • Understanding of the “Moves Management” process or other proven relationship-management process/philosophies.
  • Willingness to work hours outside standard business hours (e.g., nights and weekends).
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a positive attitude.
  • A proven commitment to diversity.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Working knowledge of Donor and Fundraising databases.

Maximum Salary: $121,800/ann
