Summary

We are seeking a Patent Attorney/Engineer to join our Licensing Support team, focusing on mobile cellular technologies. The role involves patent discussions, licensing material creation, strategy development, and collaboration with internal teams to develop patents for licensing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Participate in patent assertion projects for mobile and consumer electronics, leading technical discussions.
  2. Review and develop patent claim charts and presentations based on 3GPP standards.
  3. Collaborate to develop licensing materials and strategies.
  4. Work with patent portfolio and prosecution teams to enhance cellular patents.
  5. Assist enforcement teams with patent evaluation and understanding.
  6. Maintain proficiency in cellular standards, especially 3GPP and 5G.
  7. Stay current on case law and legal issues in patent licensing.
  8. Participate in patent acquisition evaluations as needed.

Qualifications

  1. JD or USPTO Registration (Patent Agent) preferred.
  2. Degree in electrical engineering, physics, computer science, or related.
  3. At least 5 years in patent prosecution, licensing, or enforcement, with experience in 3GPP systems.
  4. Experience presenting and defending patent claims in negotiations.
  5. Proficient in 3GPP standards, especially 5G RAN technologies.
  6. Strong understanding of licensing-focused patent prosecution or portfolio development.
  7. Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  8. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~10%).

Location

Preferably at one of our US offices (PA, DE, DC, NY, Silicon Valley). Canada or Europe locations may be considered.
