Job Description
- Large heavy civil contractor looking for an experienced Site Work / Underground Utility Superintendent. Qualified candidates must have site grading and site flatwork experience, and extensive and diverse experience in underground utility work (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main) with a minimum of 5 years' experience. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and the ability to effectively supervise large groups is essential. Computer experience required. Project values are typically up to $5 million. The successful candidate will possess excellent organization, communication, and supervisory skills, and will be highly self-sufficient in managing multiple projects effectively, including scheduling, coordinating, and supervising craft employee activities. Attend safety meetings / BBQs.
- Maintain and keep OSHA and company-required safety literature up to date.
- Ensure Underground Service Alert (USA) tickets are current and accurate, including layout for markings in the field.
People
- Manage Leadmen and crew(s).
- Mentor and train field crews.
- Lead by example and earn respect from crew and customers.
- Recommend employee hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination.
- Document disciplinary actions for employees and subcontractors.
- Encourage and support lifelong learning in self and others.
General Superintendents report to the Vice President of Field Operations.
Minimum of five (5) years as a Field Superintendent or previously achieved General Superintendent title if hired from outside.
Good working knowledge of programs & hardware such as:
- HCSS Heavy Job
- PlanGrid
- Smartsheets
- Basic Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
Proficiency with tablets, including photography.
