Boom Truck Driver / Crane Operator

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Boom Truck Driver / Crane Operator to operate boom trucks and crane equipment for transporting and lifting materials to designated sites. This position requires a combination of driving, equipment operation, and job site coordination. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and professionalism, with experience handling heavy loads and adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate boom truck and/or crane to load, transport, and unload materials at job sites.
  • Inspect truck and crane equipment daily for mechanical issues or safety concerns.
  • Plan and execute lifts safely, using appropriate rigging methods and hand signals or radio communication.
  • Read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and work orders to determine lift requirements.
  • Ensure secure and proper loading of materials and equipment.
  • Maintain records of deliveries, equipment inspections, and service logs.
  • Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety protocols and regulations.
  • Perform minor maintenance or assist with repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate with site supervisors, riggers, and ground crew to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Travel to various locations as required, including overnight stays for certain projects.

Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL (Commercial Drivers License) with appropriate endorsements (typically Class A or B).
  • NCCCO Crane Operator Certification (or equivalent, depending on state/local requirements).
  • Proven experience operating boom trucks and cranes in a construction, utility, or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of rigging techniques, crane signals, and load capacity limitations.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Clean driving record and commitment to safe driving practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Experience operating other types of heavy equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude or basic knowledge of equipment maintenance.
