Yard Mule Operator

AMMON Staffing is now hiring a skilled Yard Mule Operator for a large logistics facility in Plaquemine, LA that supports one of the region's most prominent chemical manufacturers. This critical role involves operating a yard mule (also known as a terminal tractor or yard dog) to safely and efficiently move trailers around the yard, loading docks, and shipping areas. If you're an experienced driver with a strong focus on safety and teamwork, we want to hear from you. Shifts are from 6A to 6P or from 6P to 6A.
Key Responsibilities:

• Operate yard mule/terminal tractor to move trailers and containers around the facility
• Safely back trailers into dock doors and staging areas
• Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections
• Ensure trailers are properly placed for efficient loading/unloading
• Communicate with warehouse and shipping teams to maintain smooth yard operations
• Maintain a clean and organized yard environment
• Monitor yard traffic and assist with flow management to prevent congestion or delays
• Follow all safety guidelines and PPE requirements
• Assist with light warehouse duties, including inventory checks and general support as needed
• Report any mechanical issues with equipment to supervisors or maintenance

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED (preferred)
• Proven experience operating yard mules or similar equipment
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required)
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Forklift experience or certification is a plus
• Must be a team player with strong communication skills
• Willing to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends if needed
