Leidos is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime Systems Division. In this dynamic role, you will play a crucial part in designing and integrating next-generation marine power systems for both manned and unmanned maritime platforms. We want a proactive engineer who thrives in hands-on environments and is proficient with AutoCAD for creating detailed schematics and layouts.
You will have the opportunity to work on innovative designs as well as upgrading legacy systems for a variety of vessels used in commercial, industrial, or defense applications. Your expertise in harsh environmental considerations and compliance with marine standards will be key to our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop shipboard electrical power systems, focusing on AC/DC distribution, switchgear, and control systems.
- Create and modify electrical schematics and layouts using AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Adhere to industry standards such as ABS, DNV, IEEE, USCG, and IMO regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for the effective integration of subsystems into maritime platforms.
- Support prototype development, testing, and successful field deployment of systems.
- Conduct thorough verification and validation activities for marine electrical systems.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including detailed test plans and reports.
- Troubleshoot and enhance existing systems to optimize reliability and performance.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design and documentation purposes.
- A strong understanding of both analog and digital circuit design, as well as power distribution.
- Willingness to travel for field testing and integration tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The capability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of marine electrical systems and shipboard technology.
- Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), SCADA, and embedded control systems.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer.
- Understanding of MIL-STD electrical design practices.
- Prior experience in supporting DoD or naval programs.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles relevant to industrial control systems.
- Familiarity with shipboard networking protocols like NMEA 2000, Modbus, and CANbus.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
