Here's What You Need

    High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

  • n

    Associate's Degree Radiologic Technology (preferred)

    n
  • n
  • n

    NCT - Non-Certified Radiologic Technician Registered by the Texas Medical Board Upon Hire (required)

  • n

    CMA - Current Medical Assistant Certification Upon Hire (required)

    n
  • n
  • n

    1 year Medical Assistant experience (required)

  • n
  • n

    6 months NCT relevant work experience (preferred)

  • n

    Orthopedic/Joint/Sports Medicine experience (strongly preferred)

  • n

    Casting/Splinting experience (strongly preferred)

  • n

    Phlebotomy (strongly preferred)

    Bilingual in English / Spanish (strongly preferred

    Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within field.

What You Will Do NCT

n
    n
  • n

    Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and protects patients, self and other staff from radiation hazards.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.

  • n

    Processes film and checks X-ray for clarity of image, retakes when necessary. Distributes X-ray to appropriate medical staff.

  • n

    Implements infection control procedures in the work area.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis and adjusts and sets radiologic controls.

  • n

    Maintains required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports.

  • n

    Performs quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules and department policies. Cleans, maintains and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.

    Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary.

    Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.

    Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider.

    Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.

    Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.

  • n
  • n

    May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKGs.

  • n

    Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing.

  • n

    Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.

    Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.

  • n

    Prepares, cleans and sterilizes instruments and maintains equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol. Keeps patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.

    Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).

    Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.

    Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.

    Performs other duties as assigned.
