Summary/Objective

n

The Quality Engineer will work cross-functionally to ensure manufactured products meet aviation quality standards as required by internal QMS, customer specs and applicable regulatory requirements. He/she will assist in the development of effective inspection procedures and assembly standards. He/she will also assist in employee training activities to ensure compliance with internal and external quality and assembly requirements.

Essential Functions?

    n
  • Assist in the development of inspection and product testing procedures
  • n
  • Evaluate product workmanship via in-process inspection
  • n
  • Train quality team on inspection procedures
  • n
  • Work with and train production teams on proper aviation assembly standards
  • n
  • Participate in internal and external audits; coordinate the review of non-conformances and work with others to develop corrective/preventative action plans
  • n
  • Assist in problem solving & continuous improvement activities
  • n
  • Assist with first article and final product inspection and sign-offs
  • n
  • Assist with product warranty issues in the field; may require travel up to 10%
  • n
  • Be effective connection point for production and engineering to improve design for manufacturability
  • n
  • Participate in meetings for design review, supplier changes, new product launch and/or improvement for legacy production parts
  • n
  • Assist in maintaining calibration of tools and equipment
  • n
  • Maintain proper documentation and paperwork and ensure required filings are completed
  • n
  • Ensure MRP (Epicor) processes are completed as required
  • n
  • Other duties as assigned and appropriate

Required Education and Experience?

n
    n
  • High School diploma required.
  • n
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering is
  • n
  • A&P mechanic experience is
  • n
  • At least three years’ quality control or inspection experience in the aerospace/aviation industry
  • n
  • Experience working with composites is
  • n
  • Working experience with quality systems in a certification compliance environment – ISO9000, AS9100, etc. FAA compliance experience is . ?
  • n
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand specifications.??
  • n
  • Ability to use standard inspection tools such as micrometers, verniers and scales.?
  • n

Work Environment & Physical Demands

n

This job operates in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses and/or is exposed to equipment used in the composites manufacturing process, cutting devices, hand tools, computers, handheld scanners, etc. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to repetitively lift to 50 lbs.?

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work?

n

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during day shift hours. Evening and weekend overtime work may be required as job duties demand.?

Travel?

Limited travel up to 10% may be required for various training activities and/or field warranty support.
