Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lease Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will be primarily responsible for managing and accounting for lease agreements in compliance with ASC 842 , ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, familiarity with lease accounting systems, and a solid understanding of lease classification, measurement, and disclosure requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 842 by reviewing, interpreting, and recording lease agreements (both lessee and lessor as applicable).
  • Maintain and reconcile the lease subledger and general ledger for all lease-related accounts.
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., Real Estate, Legal, FP&A) to gather necessary lease data and review terms.
  • Prepare and record journal entries for lease liabilities, right-of-use (ROU) assets, and lease modifications.
  • Assist in preparing lease-related footnote disclosures and supporting documentation for external auditors.
  • Monitor lease activity and perform periodic assessments for changes, impairments, terminations, or remeasurements.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvements of lease accounting software and processes.
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to lease accounting.
  • Ensure all new leases and modifications are properly classified, recorded, and documented in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Support SOX controls and internal audits relating to the lease accounting process.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with a focus on lease accounting or fixed assets.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 842 and U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with lease accounting systems (e.g., LeaseQuery, CoStar, Visual Lease, or similar).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a multi-entity or multi-location environment.
  • Previous exposure to public company reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance.
