Job Overview Accounting Specialist 33743
Were seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to support our client's accounting team with full-cycle accounting responsibilities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy and efficiency across Payroll, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have experience handling high volumes of transactions and payroll for large employee populations (1,500+ employees).
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Support: Assist in processing and verifying payroll for 1,500+ employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Accounts Payable: Manage high-volume AP, including invoice processing, coding, matching, and vendor communication.
- Accounts Receivable: Support timely customer invoicing, cash applications, and collections follow-up.
- Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and subledgers to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Reporting & Month-End Close: Assist with monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, operations, and other departments to resolve payroll, billing, and payment issues.
Requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience with a focus on payroll, AP, and AR
- Experience supporting payroll for 1,500+ employees (multi-state preferred)
- Proven ability to manage high-volume AP transactions
- Strong understanding of AR processes and collections
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability
Sherpa offers benefits to contract employees who meet the following criteria:
- Must be a full-time employee (30+ weekly hours/+130 hours per month) to be eligible
