Our client, a prominent retail organization, is currently seeking a skilled Buyer specializing in Footwear to drive product selection, pricing strategies, and promotional initiatives. This pivotal role focuses on achieving sales, margin, and profit objectives by fostering strong vendor relationships, conducting detailed analyses, and making customer-centric decisions. The Buyer will collaborate closely with Planning and Merchandising teams to ensure optimal availability of styles, sizes, and fits, thereby maximizing inventory investments and enhancing the overall customer experience. Key responsibilities include trend analysis, strategy development, and proactive response to sales performance, all under the supervision of the Divisional Merchandise Manager. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic partner and vital resource for the organization
- Lead junior Merchandising Department Associates towards achieving financial and talent objectives
- Supervise a high-volume, multi-category footwear business encompassing omnichannel strategies for both stores and e-commerce
- Make product decisions based on brand integrity and a deep understanding of the core customer, ensuring high satisfaction levels
- Establish priorities, promote team cohesion, and provide motivation to cross-functional teams
- Develop and communicate an assortment plan for all footwear departments that aligns with financial goals
- Collaborate with Planning to implement appropriate financial and distribution strategies for enhanced sales, margin, and inventory turnover
- Ensure store-level depth and SKU assortment meet demand benchmarks
- Maximize e-commerce footwear sales, margin, and messaging effectiveness
- Work with the Director of Marketing to identify and promote key footwear styles
- Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports to support talent growth
- Analyze competition in the footwear space for pricing, trends, and marketing strategies, adjusting strategies accordingly for market leadership
- Travel as necessary for market visits, store inspections, vendor meetings, and training sessions
- Bachelor's degree in Retail Merchandising, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive buying experience in retail, preferably in the footwear sector
- At least 2 years of experience in leading merchandising teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough understanding of retail KPIs and financial metrics
- Demonstrated negotiation and vendor management capabilities
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Prior experience in buying or managing footwear categories
- Familiarity with western and work footwear brands
- Experience in developing private label or exclusive product assortments
- Strong analytical and quantitative decision-making abilities
- Background in merchandising for both store and e-commerce environments
