Ferrara/KME are premiere manufacturers of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles offering a full line of pumpers, aerials, industrial, wildland, and rescue apparatus. Working hands-on with municipal and industrial fire departments, the Ferrara/KME team diagnoses apparatus limitations and response needs to design custom fire solutions that stand the test of time.

The Cost Accountant will handle operations, logistics, and inventory control functions related to financial impact, with knowledge of activity-based costing and lean manufacturing. Experience with ERP systems like Great Plains is preferred. The role requires ownership of the cost accounting function, an accounting or finance degree, and advanced knowledge of manufacturing, ERP, and MS Office. The position reports to the Controller and requires self-direction.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain sales and gross margin tracking methodologies.
  • Support annual planning, forecasting, and strategic processes.
  • Track sales order backlog, shipments, and completions for timely invoicing.
  • Analyze job costs for materials and labor accuracy.
Inventory and Capital
  • Perform ERP closing processes related to cost accounting.
  • Provide inventory valuation, manage raw materials, WIP, and finished goods costs.
  • Lead annual physical inventories and develop cycle count programs.
  • Support month-end close, reconciliations, and obsolete calculations.
Manufacturing and Operational Costs
  • Analyze labor and overhead expenses.
  • Monitor warranty costs and capital investments.
  • Support product platform teams with financial analysis.
Metrics and Corporate Reporting

Experience with headcount, labor hours, inventory levels, and sales metrics is desired.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, 5 years of manufacturing experience, proficiency in Excel, and project management skills preferred.

Preferred Skills

Advanced Excel, SQL, Crystal Reports, MS Access, and MS Analysis & Reporting Server.
