A fully remote, tight-knit CPA firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax preparation, review, high-level consulting, and team development for a growing client base of mid-sized businesses, medical practices, dermatology groups, med spas, and women-owned businesses.
This role is designed for a confident, proactive tax professional who brings deep S Corp and partnership experience, loves working directly with clients, and thrives on helping shape a modern, collaborative tax department.
Responsibilities

• Serve as a client-facing tax leader providing strategic advisory, consulting, and planning
• Oversee and guide 2 preparers and 1 reviewer training, mentoring, and helping team members grow into reviewers themselves
• Deliver proactive tax strategy, planning meetings, and big-picture recommendations to clients ($1M-$10M revenue range)
• Participate in planning meetings with clients alongside the tax team
• Contribute to creating and improving processes, procedures, and best practices within the tax department
• Take on complex and high-level consulting work so the firms owner can focus more on growth and leadership
• Collaborate closely with other team members each client is supported by a bookkeeper, a tax preparer, and a tax reviewer working together
• Be a true partner in helping shape the future of the firm not just a yes person but a strategic voice
  

Qualifications:

• Active CPA or EA license required
• 8+ years of tax experience, with significant recent experience in a CPA firm setting
• Strong technical knowledge and practical experience with S Corporations and partnerships
• Confident in client-facing meetings and comfortable advising on planning questions (stock sales, asset purchases, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and developing tax preparers and reviewers
• Proficient with Canopy CRM, CCH Axcess, QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Xero, and cloud-based workpapers (Adobe PDF)
• Comfort using technology, including AI tools like ChatGPT

• Must have a proven track record of handling complex business and individual returns, supervising staff, and delivering strategic advice to mid-sized business clients
• Strong consulting mindset connecting technical tax knowledge with what the client wants to accomplish
