Join our team as: Employment Specialist supporting young adults with accomplishing their vocational and educational goals.Rising Oaks is a transitional housing program for young adults who have either emancipated from the foster care system or are participating in extended foster care. Along with 30 studio apartments set in a safe and welcoming community, Rising Oaks provides a comprehensive continuum of developmentally appropriate, culturally competent, co-located and integrated services in collaboration with Alameda County Social Services Agency. Services include case management, life skills training, health and wellness services, educational support, career development, individual and family therapy, support groups, housing and transportation assistance, and access to community resources. Rising Oaks works in partnership with youth to identify and build upon their strengths and to lay the foundation from which they can launch successfully into their adult lives.
What You Will Do
Our employment services are based on the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of supported employment and serve individuals with serious mental illness and /or behavioral health conditions find work at regular jobs of their choosing. The Employment Specialist also provides supported education services related to employment. Services include Job development with employers, job search with participants, job retention to support participants with maintaining their job and educational support. In addition to providing employment and education services the Employment Specialist is part of a mental health rehabilitation team, promotes employment as a critical part of recovery within the agency and contributes to meeting fidelity to the IPS model. The Employment Specialist works collaboratively with participants to identify areas of education and/or employment interests, develop their soft skills to improve interpersonal interactions at work and in the community and work-related skills such as resume building, applying for jobs, mock interviewing and dressing for success!

Full Time - Hourly; Mon-Fri/8am-5pm

What You Bring to The Table (requirements):
Required:
1. B.A. Degree from accredited college or university or equivalent years of related work experience.
2. Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.
3. Demonstrated understanding of the developmental milestones of children, youth, or young adults to provide to provide care, treatment and services.
4. Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.
5. Demonstrated ability to utilize de-escalation techniques that align with the trauma informed care model as part of intervention strategy for working with participants in crisis who are responding to triggers/stressors and/or demonstrating early indicators of distress.
6. Valid California Driver's License is required with a clean driving record or ability to obtain within 10 days after hire.
7. Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Must have access to dependable transportation and personal car insurance, meeting minimum liability coverage required for position
Preferred:
1. A minimum of two (2) years post-college experience working with or providing mental health counseling to teens or transition age youth living with mental illness,
developmental/intellectual disability, and/or severe emotional disturbance, often with
unstable housing situations.
2. Experience delivering career development, job development, or vocational services.
3. One or more years of experience working with socioeconomically and culturally diverse populations.
4. Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
5. Knowledge of employment, educational, and healthcare resources in Alameda or Contra Costa County.
6. Fluency in prevailing language(s) of the community.
7. M.A. Degree in relevant field.
