We are a growing construction company seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Full-time Bookkeeper to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting the overall financial health of our organization.
Job Overview
We are looking for a professional Bookkeeper with 1-3 years of experience to manage our day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, familiarity with construction industry practices, and excellent communication skills. This position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company
  • Record and categorize daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Process employee payroll and ensure timely payments
  • Prepare and file tax documents, including sales tax returns and payroll taxes
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Monitor and track job costing for construction projects
  • Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices and payments
  • Handle accounts receivable, including client invoicing and payment collection
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial files and records
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and billing
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements for internal and external use
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures
  • Stay current with accounting software updates and industry best practices
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management
  • Assist with annual audits and tax preparation
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in bookkeeping principles and practices
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry financial processes and terminology
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Associate's degree in Accounting or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 50, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Familiarity with project management software used in construction
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
