Accounts Payable Specialist
STRS Ohio is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join the Finance/Accounting team. Work Schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday (Onsite) General Summary: Under the direction of the manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting, prepare invoices and maintain documentation for accounts payable. Summary of Responsibilities: Prepare invoices in the cloud-based invoice system; ensure accuracy and completeness for departmental processing and approval. Ensure proper processing of accounts payable transactions through proper use of general ledger expense accounts, departmental classifications and approval workflows. Support accurate and timely payments of purchases through the procurement lifecycle, including contracts, requisitions, spend authorizations, purchase orders and receipts. Using documented procedures, select vendors for payment and initiate the cash disbursement. Maintain vendor file in accounts payable system, confirm accuracy of vendor's address, bank information and tax reporting status. Evaluate travel invoices for compliance with the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) travel policy and procedures. Summary of Qualifications: High school education or equivalent required. Associate degree in finance or accounting preferred. Two to three years relevant experience required. Familiarity with enterprise accounts payable system, general ledger, pension, and reporting systems preferred. Proven ability to transition to new software platforms preferred. Experience with Workday a plus. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts required. Good organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required. Proven ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and standard office equipment required. Excellent work record of attendance, punctuality and the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet business needs.
