CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFO CONSULTANT I - 71002474

Under the direct supervision of the CJIS manager I, this position is responsible for researching accurate information and providing quality assurance and verification related to concealed weapons transactions from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). This position is responsible for providing quality service and information to internal and external customers with regards to these decisions. This position provides training and guidance to other members in the Firearm Eligibility Bureau (FEB). This position is responsible for applying federal and state disqualifiers as well as maintaining, organizing, and prioritizing the section's workflow. This position must meet and maintain NCIC/FCIC (National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases. Specific duties include: Evaluating criminal histories to identify missing or inaccurate information; Coordinating various daily work volumes and makes adjustments by monitoring the requests status to maximize efficiency and productivity; Ensuring completion of assigned tasks by conducting a thorough review of the provided documentation and update systems accordingly; Processing technical cases that require extensive research and applies relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure completeness and accuracy of criminal justice information; Providing quality assurance on completed concealed weapons related transactions and research; Researching, analyzing, developing, and delivering instructional methods and techniques to support the training of departmental activities to the criminal justice community, firearm dealers, firearm purchase program members and the general public; Coordinating research involving the development of new methods and techniques; Completing assigned special projects according to instructions; and Performing other related duties where appropriate or as requested by division leadership. Knowledge, skills & abilities: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication; Knowledge of state and federal firearm disqualifiers; Knowledge of the criminal justice system; Knowledge of the methods of data collection; Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data; Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; Ability to operate computers and other office equipment; Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities; and Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Base salary: $47,668.01 Notes: Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy.
