Kaeppel Consulting is in search of a Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications Strategy for a direct hire, onsite role at a client's site in San Antonio. We are seeking an experienced, innovative, results-driven Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications Strategy to lead the University's brand vision, marketing initiatives, and communications strategy. This position will shape, implement, and oversee strategies that enhance the institution's reputation, support enrollment and advancement goals, and foster meaningful engagement with key audiences. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Brand Management Lead the development, execution, and assessment of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with the University's mission and strategic plan. Serve as the University's brand steward, ensuring consistency in visual identity, tone, and messaging across all communication channels. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and higher education best practices to keep the University's marketing approaches innovative and competitive. Marketing & Campaign Development Plan, manage, and evaluate marketing campaigns to support recruitment, retention, fundraising, academic programs, and community initiatives. Collect, analyze, and apply market research and data analytics to identify target audiences and refine campaign strategies. Collaborate with Enrollment Management, Advancement, and Academic units to create content and campaigns that drive measurable results. Communications & Public Relations Oversee all internal and external communications to foster engagement with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and community stakeholders. Manage media relations, develop press materials, and cultivate relationships with local, state, and national media outlets. Develop and implement crisis communication plans in collaboration with University leadership. Leadership & Team Development Supervise, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of marketing, communications, and creative professionals. Oversee vendor and agency relationships to ensure high-quality deliverables and cost-effective solutions. Manage the department budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic priorities. Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans and multi-channel campaigns. Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail. Proficiency in marketing technologies, analytics tools, and content management systems. Proven success in managing teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant discipline. Experience in higher education marketing and communications. Knowledge of the Texas higher education landscape and familiarity with regional and national media networks. Expertise in enrollment marketing, fundraising communications, and brand storytelling.
