On the Wearables team at Meta, we are focused on defining experiences at the intersection of AI, wearable devices, and Augmented Reality. We find new ways for people to connect and build communities and help people feel more present with each other even when we're apart. Meta is looking for an Art Manager with exceptional creative, communication, and people management skills to lead our team overseeing art, illustration, motion, 3D graphics, and interactive games for our wearables portfolio. Responsibilities: Hire, mentor and manage a medium-scale design team that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across the different design skill sets. Responsible for overall team performance and health, resource allocation, project prioritization, and building a practice of high design craft. Lead and the visual, motion, and emotional design in support of the user experience of a portfolio of products from conception to launch in partnership with product managers, engineers, UX researchers, and content designers, with a focus on wearable AI devices such as glasses with and without displays and wrist-worn input devices. Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something useful and valuable for people using our products, incorporating expertise in UX design, personality, package, and brand design in product UI, product onboarding, and end-to-end product experience. Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and design leadership teams, driving business outcomes through design. Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies, including advancements in AI, AR, and wearables. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 8+ years of experience in Product Design, Creative Design, and/or Game UI Design, with a focus on visual, aesthetic, craft, brand, and leverage of all through design systems. A portfolio that demonstrates relevant work, a proven understanding of best practices in product design, and a track record of shipping useful, usable, and beautiful products. 4+ years of design management experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership, including experience managing technical artists or similar. 8+ years of experience working collaboratively with product, engineering, design, content, and user research teams. Experience building and shipping applications or software across a variety of platforms. Experience leading product direction and strategic thinking with the experience developing product goals, identifying opportunities, and making decisions based on the impact to people and the company. Experience representing work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly conveying the goals and concepts. Preferred Qualifications: Experience designing/leading design for software applications for a new device or non-mobile product experience such as a wearable, game console, TV, auto, virtual reality, smart home, etc. Experience working on large scale, complex projects across multiple organization pillars, with a focus on design systems and UI/UX. Experience working with Machine Learning, generative AI, or Large Language Models (LLMs), including expertise in personality, character design, and brand manifestation in product UI. Experience designing for spatial interfaces, diegetic interfaces, and/or augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR/XR). Familiarity with the technical constraints of manifesting high craft on a wide range of platforms. Experience with design operations and process optimization. $175,000/year to $236,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
