Operating Engineer

As our Operating Engineer at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, you will help maintain and operate critical hospital building systems so that patients, staff, and visitors experience a safe, functional, and comfortable environment. Every day, you will monitor, repair, and optimize energy plant systems, boilers, chillers, HVAC, and mechanical equipment. You will be expected to independently manage preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure operational efficiency throughout the facility. To be successful in this role, you must have strong technical knowledge of plant operations, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple departments. Operate high-pressure boilers, chillers, absorbers, and automated building control systems Perform preventive and routine maintenance on pumps, steam pipes, air handling units, and related systems Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues with building infrastructure Maintain water treatment records and monitor system efficiency Collaborate with other trades to complete work safely and on schedule Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED
required At least 5 years
of experience in power plant operations or completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program Working knowledge of schematics, blueprints, codes, and electrical troubleshooting Must be physically able to perform heavy labor (lifting 50100 lbs) CHI St. Vincent, a regional health network serving Arkansas, is part of CommonSpirit Health.
