Location: Anchorage, Alaska Reports to: General Manager of Operations APBC is hiring for an exceptional leadership opportunity as Brewing Manager, reporting directly to the General Manager of Operations, based at our rapidly growing beverage facility in Anchorage. At APBC/49th State Brewing Company, we're both a pioneer and innovator in Alaska's brewing and beverage industry. As Brewing Manager, you will: Drive a culture of excellence across the brewing team. Be instrumental in identifying, refining, and elevating all aspects of brewing and cellaring operations. Oversee brewing processes, recipe development, and quality control, including non-alcoholic beverage production. Foster a collaborative, safety-first, and efficiency-focused team culture. Key Responsibilities

Brewing Operations Lead all brewing operations, including collaborative recipe development for beers and other beverages sold both in distribution and our own retail locations. Program recipes into brewhouse automation systems, manage raw material procurement, and apply Food Safety Principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Pilot Beverages & Innovation Partner with our development brewing professional to design custom recipes that hit precise targets. Manage cost estimates, coordinate quality control analysis, and guide products from pilot-scale innovation to large-scale production. Quality Control Establish and monitor product quality parameters. Ensure every beverage meets or exceeds GMP standards and complies with all food safety and labeling regulations (TTB, FDA). Production Management Oversee daily brewing and cellaring operations to meet production goals while optimizing efficiency. Track KPIs for yield, production rates, and resource utilization. Collaborate with internal teams to align production schedules with demand. Manage monthly inventory reporting, order needed maintenance materials and services. Staff Leadership & Development Mentor, train, and develop brewing staff, promoting a positive, inclusive workplace. Support succession planning and implement ongoing training programs. Create written training and operational materials as needed. Equipment & Facility Management Ensure all brewery equipment is maintained and operating at peak performance. Oversee sanitation and cleaning processes. Collaborate with maintenance to identify and plan preventative maintenance. Sustainability Initiatives Lead efforts to reduce water and energy usage, minimize waste, and leverage automation and software for efficiency. Compliance & Brand Representation Ensure compliance with TTB, OSHA, and EPA regulations. Represent the brewery at events, building strong industry relationships. Working Conditions Requires standing for up to 12 hours, bending, stooping, twisting, and regularly lifting/moving up to 50 lbs. (and occasionally up to 170 lbs. with proper equipment). Exposure to high noise levels and temperature changes is expected. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's in Brewing Science, Food Science, or related fieldor equivalent certification (e.g., Certified Master Brewer). Experience: Minimum 2 years in production brewing with at least 1 year in a leadership role managing 5+ staff. Proven expertise in recipe development, ingredient sourcing, and scaling recipes from pilot to production (30-bbl systems). Strong knowledge of brewing science, including malting, mashing, fermentation, and packaging processes. Hands-on experience with quality control, lab testing, and sensory evaluation. Proficiency with MRP/ERP brewery management software (Vicinity preferred; training provided) and Microsoft Office. Budget management skills with a focus on cost control and process optimization. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, food safety, and environmental compliance. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
