Senior Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable, Sales Use Tax/1099 reporting, and Interunit accounting processes for Capital One. This role requires close partnership with business contacts such as ESM, Treasury, Accounting Systems and Enterprise Payments, to coordinate and deliver key results and project initiatives in a well-managed way. You will also be responsible for building sustainable business strategies and capabilities, supporting anticipated business growth, and aligning with the automation agenda. As a leader, you will lead and develop a high-performing team to run a best-in-class operation. Responsibilities: Translate business vision and strategy into operational tactics and build the organizational support and infrastructure needed to achieve them. Review and present monthly performance and other ad hoc analytics to leadership. Partner and coordinate with upstream and downstream partners to understand and deliver accurate key results, project initiatives, and documentation. Monitor the status of new product offerings, business initiatives, and efficiency projects to determine the impact on existing processes and implement changes where needed. Develop industry-leading processes with effective automation, controls, and standards that prevent non-compliance issues, provide consistent customer experience, and drive operational efficiencies. Establish strong operating metrics to monitor business effectiveness and develop a management process to utilize the metrics to drive operational improvements. Build a high-performing team by focusing on associate career development, talent management, and recognition programs. Lead and manage special projects and initiatives as needed. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or military experience At least 7 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Payments, or a combination At least 7 years of experience in accounting, finance, risk management, audit, or a combination At least 1 year of experience in People Management Preferred Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification At least 8 years of experience in Financial Services At least 7 years of experience in Accounts Payable, payments, or a combination At least 5 years of People Management experience At least 3 years of experience in Process Improvement At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr. Manager, Accounting Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr. Manager, Accounting Wilmington, DE: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr. Manager, Accounting Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
