Our location in Portsmouth, VA currently has an opportunity for a Warehouse Specialist. In this role, the individual will be responsible for receiving incoming freight and inventory management of lab supplies. Shift: Monday to Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm What you'll work on: Act as an area lead, leading a team of 4-6. Support Warehouse Manager in space planning and forecasting for inventory. Overseeing and leading the training of the picking team on ERP systems and replenishment according to procedures. Reads picking sheets before handling/picking items. Pick Items accurately according to customer specifications documented on the picking sheets. Meets department goals for zero picking errors. Operates a manual rolling cart to move products throughout the warehouse during the picking process. Assists team members in picking, staging, loading, unloading, rotation, and storage of products. Pick the proper lot# and expiration date as the picking sheet directs. Ensure all notes on the picking sheet are read and understood. Records all damage per Company policy and handles damage/dents as they happen. Coordinate material transactions between the warehouses and other departments. Work with Inventory Control to complete cycle count activities and physical inventory counts. Stocking and inventory management of supplies within site warehouses ensuring first in first out is maintained. Maintain warehouse and ensure supplies are easily identifiable and retrievable. Reconcile packing slips according to company procedures. Transfer of supplies between the main warehouse and reserve warehouse locations. Must comply with company policy regarding the handling of supplies, chemicals, tests, and reagents. Maintain a high level of organizational, professionalism, and time management skills. Maintains cleanliness of the pick faces, overstock locations, and receiving by sweeping the floor, wiping up spills, and keeping stations organized. Follows and abides by all company safety rules. Ability to operate Microsoft office applications (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Power Point). Perform random quality audits on shipment receipts daily. Oversee and support daily cycle counts. Must be dependable and punctual. Determine daily flow and prioritization of daily orders, backorders, 5S, and warehouse activities. Performs other duties as assigned. Monitor transfers, and replenishments and provide status on all outbound shipments in area daily. Checking processes for accuracy and ensuring customers orders are fulfilled. Build and maintain relationships with key internal customers. Assist with process improvements. Submit Global Help Desk Tickets Lead tier meetings. Education and Experience you'll bring: Required: High school education or GED Preferred: Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) Must be a solid communicator with problem-solving skills Hands-on experience with ERP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Great Plains or Sage) or Inventory management systems and Scan Force Ability to understand inventory management practices Hands-on experience in a combination of warehouse picking & packing, supply chain forecasting, and inventory management. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP/APO and Business Warehouse data usage), analysis, and presentation. Excellent analytical and communication skills Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build consensus across functional, business unit, and geographic boundaries.
