As the VMware Horizon VDI Engineer, the individual is responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and optimizing the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment using VMware Horizon. In this role, the VMWare Horizon VDI Engineer works closely with IT teams to ensure seamless delivery of virtual desktops and applications, providing support and troubleshooting for end-users, and implementing best practices for security and performance.

Responsibilities

Designs and architects VMware Horizon VDI solutions to meet organizational requirements Installs, configures, and maintains VMware Horizon infrastructure, including Connection Servers, Composer Servers, and Horizon Agents Implements and manages desktop pools, linked clones, and instant clones Monitors and maintains the health, performance, and availability of the VDI environment Performs regular updates and patches to the VMware Horizon environment Optimizes VDI performance through effective resource allocation, load balancing, and troubleshooting Provides technical support to end-users experiencing issues with virtual desktops and applications Troubleshoots and resolves VDI-related problems, including connectivity, performance, and compatibility issues Collaborates with helpdesk and other IT teams to ensure quick resolution of user issues Implements security best practices to protect the VDI environment, including access controls, encryption, and antivirus measures Ensures compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and standards Maintains comprehensive documentation of the VDI environment, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides Generates reports on VDI performance, usage, and capacity planning Stays updated with the latest VMware Horizon technologies and industry trends Identifies opportunities for improving the VDI environment and implement enhancements Participates in capacity planning and disaster recovery planning Performs other tasks as required by OSC and the Government contracting office Required Qualifications/Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Must have and maintain Top-Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility VMware Certified Professional - Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) are required Extensive experience with VMware Horizon, vSphere, ESXi, and related VMware technologies Strong understanding of VDI concepts, virtual desktop deployment, and management Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Additional VMware certifications are a plus OSC Edge delivers a total rewards package that we know will attract, engage and retain top talent.
