Maintenance Mechanic
Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Mechanic to join our client in supporting their manufacturing operations. This onsite, contract-to-hire position near Asheville, NC, focuses on maintaining, servicing, and repairing plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and quality standards. The role involves both preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaborating with team members to address mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
Compensation: • $24-$28/hour, based on shift and experience
Work Schedule: • Monday-Friday, 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM) or 3rd shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM) • Rotating weekend schedule; shifts posted one month in advance • Initial training on 8-hour weekday shifts before transitioning to assigned schedule
Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic: • Maintain, service, and repair mechanical equipment, machinery, and components • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and evaluate repair requests • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems (120VAC-480VAC) • Identify and order replacement parts as needed • Coordinate installation support and service operations • Monitor and ensure the quality and efficiency of equipment performance • Maintain accurate records, work orders, and inspection reports • Adhere to all safety, food safety, and regulatory requirements • Report potential food safety concerns to management • Follow SQF requirements and participate in quality issue resolution • Operate hand and power tools as required • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills for the Maintenance Mechanic: • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing mechanic experience • High school diploma or equivalent • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Detail-oriented with problem-solving abilities • Experience in the food and beverage industry a plus • Previous manufacturing or production environment experience preferred
