Critical Care Technician

Assist RN and physician staff with care of critically ill and injured patients. Responsible for stocking and ordering of equipment and supplies and maintaining a 24 hour ready status in all units. Responsible for cleaning, maintenance and stocking of unit equipment and supply in procedure carts. The Trauma/Surgical ICU (TSICU) is a 28-bed critical care unit specializing in the care of traumatically injured patients or those patients undergoing complex surgeries requiring close monitoring and care. Patients are admitted directly from the ED, the Ross Trauma Admitting Area, or the operating room. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. Many patients cared for the in the TSICU are poly-trauma, with injuries involving more than one body system. Common surgical patients include those undergoing Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, gastrostomies, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners, resident physicians and attending trauma surgeons. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the trauma patient. EMT Field and pre-hospital experience. EKG, Phlebotomy, ACCU-Check. High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Current New Jersey EMT certification or eligible for reciprocity, NREMT preferred. Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support). Full time nights, 36 hours a week. Hours: 7p-7a. USD $17.50 - USD $27.00.
