Systems Administrator Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Cimarron is seeking a System Administrator Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base in the Colorado Springs area in Colorado. Key Duties: Design and implement architecture for all Windows systems, both virtual and logical. Administer and support operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations. Manage WSUS and SCCM servers to perform system updates and patching. Perform OS hardening and apply STIGs to ensure cybersecurity compliance. Deploy and configure tools such as vCenter, PowerShell, and Ansible. Administer container platforms like OpenShift and maintain related repositories and registries. Manage and support Linux workstation environments. Maintain secure host baselines for Windows and Linux systems. Perform daily system monitoring, backups, restorals, and application upgrades. Develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline documentation. Ensure timely software installations, maintenance, issue resolution, and cybersecurity mitigation. Create, upgrade, manage, and sustain both physical and virtual workstations and servers. Required Skills, Experience, and Education: Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. Active Secret Clearance. 5 or more years of experience as a Windows Systems Administrator or Active Directory Administrator. Expertise in Windows system design, oversight, and troubleshooting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex service issues. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and challenging concepts. Proficiency in creating, following, and documenting standard operating procedures. Self-motivated with the ability to proactively identify risks, issues, and improvement opportunities. Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills. Adaptable, with a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Windows systems administration and Active Directory. Experience using WSUS for Windows updates and patch management. Proficient in managing and deploying software via SCCM. Strong background in PowerShell scripting for automation and system management. Experience with virtualization of Windows services and environments. Skilled in managing Active Directory and configuring Group Policy Objects (GPOs). Possession of a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (e.g., Security+, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP, etc.). Desired Skills, Experience, and Education: Experience with Identity Management (IdM) systems. Experience managing Certificate Authority (CA) servers. Proficient in administering Windows Server 2019/2022 and Windows 10/11. Experience managing PXE (Preboot Execution Environment) servers. Knowledge of two-factor authentication systems, including RSA and PKI. Experience with applying DISA STIGs and remediating system vulnerabilities. Administration experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and/or 8 environments. Familiarity with Remedy or similar IT service management tools. Working knowledge of Configuration Management processes and best practices.
