Park IV Crew Leader

This FT position works 6 months in the Parks Department & 6 months in the Golf Maintenance Department. Pay Range $37.24-$45.60 per hour (D.O.E.) Job Summary

Park IV acts as a crew leader in the maintenance of parks, golf course, recreational spaces, trails, ball fields and landscaped areas. Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of medium, light and other specialized equipment. Assists in the management and maintenance operations for properties maintained by Park City. Typical Job Duties

Acts as crew leader in scheduling maintenance projects, monitoring and assessing performance of personnel, and evaluating methods and results pertaining to the Park City's park network. Provides training and assistance, explains procedures and answers questions for crews. Performs landscaping and groups maintenance on parks and golf course. Assists in the repair of equipment, vehicles and tools. Monitors greens, tees, fairways, parks, buildings, etc for division and reports to Parks & Golf Supervisor as necessary. Involved in the installation, repair and maintenance of park irrigation systems. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems pertaining to irrigation systems. Orders supplies and keeps stock of park maintenance supplies and repair parts. Supervises snow crews during the winter months including plowing and hauling of snow from City sidewalks, trails and City-owned buildings. Operates specialized heavy and light equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, mowers, utility vehicles and other similar equipment in the maintenance, construction and repair of City park facilities in a safe, courteous, and professional manner. Checks and services assigned equipment, performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs; reports mechanical problems to the Parks & Golf Supervisor and/or Fleet Supervisor. Makes assignments to crews such as planting, pruning, weeding, fertilization, mowing, field maintenance, irrigation operation and repair, and special events are completed in a timely and professional manner. Schedules, trains seasonal staff on the operation of grounds maintenance equipment. Evaluates performance of seasonal staff. Orders necessary supplies. Apply insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers using a variety of application equipment/techniques. Assists and monitors crews in application process. Ensure all City and departmental safety policies and procedures are adhered to in day-to-day operations. Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe workplace, safe work practices and safety programs. Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets for division. Maintains specific documentation of inspection and maintenance records to meet risk management requirements, including application of fertilizers, sprays, and chemicals. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications:

Valid Utah State Driver's License (or CDL if required) High School Diploma or equivalent Five years experience as a parks or golf maintenance worker (or "grounds keeping, construction, concrete and general maintenance and repair) or equivalent with an increasing level of responsibility May be required to possess a valid Utah Pesticide Applicators license Ability to obtain City National Incident Management System Certifications Preferred:

Supervision experience in a parks/golf maintenance setting Two-year degree in related field Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, run, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or operate objects, controls, or tools. Ability to climb and pull own weight in and out of equipment. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Work is performed primarily in vehicles and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions including extreme temperature extremes, and includes day, swing and night shifts. Work environment is physically demanding. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to low. Occasional on-call working hours including evenings and weekends. Work includes day and swing shifts.
