We are seeking an experienced Advanced shipfitter with a minimum of four years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class fitter. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in tack welding, burning, and heating using oxygen/propane torches, alongside a strong ability to interpret complex structural assembly drawings and blueprints. Responsibilities
Perform multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process. Operate burning and heating equipment, specifically oxygen/propane burning torches. Interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines. Comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler and lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly. Assemble structural piece parts according to specifications with high-quality standards. Work effectively in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding or steel fabrication. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry. Utilize vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns. Essential Skills
Single pass tack welding expertise. Proficiency in using oxygen/propane burning and heating torches. Strong understanding of structural assembly drawings and blueprints. Ability to interpret fractional dimensions and perform layout for fabrication. Experience in shipbuilding or steel fabrication. Knowledge of OSHA regulations in shipbuilding. Skill in using vibratory tools such as grinders and needle guns. Pay and Benefits
