Weight Inspector I / Florida Department of Transportation / Motor Carrier Size and Weight This position will enforce provisions of weight laws, including vehicle registration requirements and compliance with fuel tax requirements of commercial vehicles as specified in Chapter 316 of the Florida Statutes (F.S.) using automated scales and measuring devices to determine weight of commercial vehicles and cargo. FDOT / MCSAW Pensacola Weight Facility / Pensacola, FL Annual Salary Range: $42,454.92 Your Specific Responsibilities include enforcing provisions of weight laws, using automated scales and measuring devices to determine weight of commercial vehicles and cargo, calculating vehicles axle and gross weights, submitting Weigh Station Deficiency reports, checking vehicles for compliance with fuel tax requirements, issuing temporary permits, assessing permit fees, and issuing civil citations when violations are detected. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of basic computer usage, knowledge in the use of radio and telephone equipment; Skills in dealing with the public and other employees in a tactful and courteous manner; Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; skilled in performing basic mathematical calculations; ability to work independently; ability to collect, review and verify data and maintain records. Other Job-Related Requirements include extensive on the job and classroom training, Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) / National Crime Informaiton Center (NCIC) certification, Level II background check, and responding to emergency situations. Minimum Qualifications include obtaining a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency.
