Administrative Assistant - Tupelo Campus

Unit Name Nursing - Tupelo Routes calls and visitors for the program. Serves as first contact for the program with students, parents, and prospective students. Answers questions about the program and sends information to prospective students. Sorts and routes mail within the BSN Program. Acts as administrative assistant to the program director and faculty by scheduling appointments for the program director and faculty as needed, assisting the program director in maintaining a mechanism for tracking students and graduates, and assisting the program director and faculty in verifying student requirements for graduation. Composes and types general correspondence. Types, copies, and collates letters, reports, tests, revised course syllabi, classroom handouts, clinical evaluation tools, skills packets, check off lists, client assessment tools, community assessment tools, research guidelines, admission packets, junior and senior calendars, minutes of program committees, etc. Supervises student worker and forwards the student's completed time sheet. Handles office details not requiring official action or decision by maintaining adequate level of office supplies for the program; operating office equipment; typing and forwarding textbook orders; forwarding program faculty and staff monthly attendance/leave records to divisional administrative assistant; and maintaining appropriate program forms for students and faculty and assisting with filling out forms, as needed. Maintains day-to-day program operational files; maintains program files on current students in the nursing major, pre-nursing students, and prospective students at other colleges or universities (300+ files). Processes Change of Major Forms. Validates and copies for program files the student's compliance with clinical requirements which are current malpractice insurance, car liability insurance, physical exam form, immunization compliance forms, TB compliance forms, and Hepatitis Compliance forms. Assists with pre-registration. Distributes student grade reports to advisors and students and files the program grade report. Types, photocopies, collates, addresses and mails graduate and employer questionnaires. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
