Accounting Manager (General Accounting)

Manages professional accounting work of considerable difficulty in the operation of the general accounting division of the agency's fiscal office. Major duties include: Oversight of reconciliations practices and compliance, preparing management reports as well as quarterly and annual reports; resolving accounting errors; continuous review of accounting systems and recommendations for improvements; and assessment of workloads and staffing assignments. Provides supervision of direct reports. We are seeking a detail-oriented candidate to support our finance team by adhering to established company policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy in all financial activities. Responsibilities include balancing financial statements and income statements to assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The role also involves providing support for financial analysis and other related tasks to promote effective fiscal management and accountability throughout the organization. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge and experience with business standards for various reconciliations Knowledge and experience with generally acceptable accounting principles (GAAP) Experience serving in a supervisory capacity, providing performance management and development of staff Considerable knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Experience interpreting regulations, policies, and procedures, and developing and implementing changes and new processes into operational functions Additional Considerations: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Experience with general ledger management, including practical knowledge of State and Federal Funds VDH accepts only on-line applications.
