Cultural Center Specialist
Support the Tribe's mission of preserving and perpetuating the cultural heritage of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde by assisting the Chachalu programs in creating, implementing, and providing programming for Chachalu Museum and Cultural Center guests and the Grand Ronde community. Essential Functions: Supports Chachalu Museum activity/event development and execution through a team process. This includes defining of project scope, goals and deliverables as well as implementation of projects assigned by Supervisor. Provides administrative support to Chachalu staff as needed. Serves as a docent/tour guide for Chachalu Tribal Museum & Cultural Center. Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Assists with museum and cultural center related projects and publications. Responds to inquiries regarding Chachalu and the Tribe. Assists in planning and coordination for onsite programming as well as special events at Chachalu. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and files for all event management projects. Maintains current information in corporate databases for business contacts, consumer databases, sponsors and vendor lists. Collects and maintains activity databases identifying memberships, visitor participation and donations/contributions to the museum. Develop event specific tools such as production timelines, contact lists, on site deliverables scheduled. Provide research support and completes tasks required for event execution as directed by Supervisor. Compiles post event wrap-up reports, evaluations and client summaries. Prepares statistical data, correspondence and reports. Assists Manager and program supervisors with implementation of department and program objectives. Assists with filling Cultural requests for public speaking on Tribal history and culture as well as provides cultural demonstrations. Attends internal tribal process trainings and meetings. Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor. Education, Experience, and Licenses: Requires a high school diploma or GED. An Associate's degree is preferred. Requires one (1) year of customer service experience. OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Driving Requirements: This position may require driving. Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications: Requires working knowledge and proficiency in use of office equipment and computer software such as Microsoft products. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, business and telephone etiquette. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of cultural resource records. Must have the ability to work at times with minimal supervision. Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and record keeping skills. Must have ability to respond courteously and tactfully to complaints and client requests, and to maintain confidentiality. Must have ability to speak effectively in public. Working knowledge of Cultural Resources is preferred. Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture is required. Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements: Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication. Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks. Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally. Occasionally requires lifting of up to 20 pounds. Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations. This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which protect from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions. May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies. Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required. Will require flexible schedule for evening and weekend hours based on events and activities.
