Job Title:
System Administrator / Scripting Engineer Location:
Washington, DC Hybrid - Onsite 1x per week Contract
Position Summary
We seeking a
System Administrator/Scripting Engineer
to support the program. The role focuses on patching, automation, and system configuration in a Windows environment, with strong emphasis on
PowerShell scripting
and application management. The position will evolve into a
DevOps Engineer
role, supporting cloud migration to Azure and containerization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain
PowerShell scripts
to automate patching, configuration validation, log extraction, compliance reporting, and Active Directory management. Install, configure, and maintain enterprise applications in
Windows-based environments . Ensure systems meet
security compliance
by applying timely patches and upgrades. Implement and support
Single Sign-On (SSO)
solutions via
ADFS . Collaborate with Windows Server and Active Directory teams for application integration. Deploy and manage applications in
Azure Cloud . Support
containerized deployments
using
Docker
and
Kubernetes . Monitor application health and performance; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Work with DevOps teams to improve CI/CD processes. Required Qualifications
Recent, hands-on PowerShell scripting
experience (current or within the past week). Experience with
on-prem patching cycles
(recent within the last monthly cycle). 2+ years experience with
Azure Cloud
and container orchestration ( Docker Compose
or
Kubernetes ). Strong background with
Windows Server
and
Active Directory . Experience with
SSO ,
ADFS , and
MS SQL Server . Familiarity with
test automation tools
(e.g., Selenium). Ability to work onsite
once per week
and during critical events (may include weekends). Preferred Qualifications
5+ years experience in
DevOps engineering
with CI/CD pipeline automation. Experience in
Agile development
environments. Basic
Python
scripting skills. Experience with
OpenShift ,
Ansible ,
Puppet ,
Terraform , or similar IaC tools. Knowledge of continuous monitoring tools ( ELK/EFK stack ). Cloud modernization and DevOps implementation experience.
