Vice President Of Technical Security

The Vice President of Technical Security is a senior executive leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's technical security strategy to protect critical financial data, infrastructure, and digital assets. This role ensures the effective operation of security operations, cyber defense, security incident response, cloud security, and network security functions. The VP will collaborate across IT, risk management, compliance, and business units to safeguard the organization against evolving cyber threats, maintain regulatory compliance, and enable secure digital transformation. Strategic Leadership Define and execute the enterprise technical security strategy aligned with business goals, risk appetite, and industry best practices. Lead the integration of security into enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and operational processes. Leadership Skills Executive presence with strong communication and presentation abilities. Strategic thinker with hands-on operational leadership. Ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and influence at all organizational levels. Technical Skills Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls). Expertise in SIEM, SOAR, EDR, and network security technologies. Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud security architectures. Experience with zero-trust architectures, micro-segmentation, and identity and access management (IAM). Team Leadership & Development Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing technical security team. Foster a culture of proactive threat management, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Champion security awareness and training across the organization. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Ensure adherence to applicable financial services security regulations, including PCI DSS, SOX, FFIEC, GLBA, and NYDFS Cybersecurity Requirements. Collaborate with audit, compliance, and risk teams to conduct regular security assessments and risk reviews. Drive remediation of identified vulnerabilities and gaps. Network Security Oversee the architecture, implementation, and management of network security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and segmentation. Ensure zero-trust principles are applied across network designs and remote access solutions. Partner with infrastructure teams to ensure resilience, redundancy, and rapid recovery capabilities. Cloud Security Lead the design and enforcement of cloud security policies, standards, and controls for public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. Partner with cloud service providers to ensure compliance with financial services regulations (e.g., FFIEC, GLBA). Implement cloud-native security tools for workload protection, access control, and encryption. Security Incident Response Direct incident response teams to quickly contain, investigate, and remediate security breaches. Develop and maintain an enterprise incident response plan, including playbooks and tabletop exercises. Ensure post-incident reviews are conducted and lessons learned are integrated into security policies and controls. Security Operations & Cyber Defense Oversee the Security Operations Center (SOC) and ensure 24/7 monitoring, detection, and response capabilities. Implement advanced threat intelligence, detection, and mitigation strategies. Maintain a robust cyber defense program leveraging AI/ML-based threat detection, behavioral analytics, and automated response technologies. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (Master's preferred). 15+ years of experience in information security, with at least 8 years in a leadership role. Proven track record in managing security operations, incident response, cloud security, and network security in a regulated financial services environment. Salary Range: $230,900.00 - $307,900.00 Annually This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
