This is a unique clinical role that provides Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) consultative support as well as clinical interventions. The ECMH consultant works collaboratively with the Early Childhood Education staff, programs, and families to improve their ability to prevent, identify, treat, and reduce the impact of mental health challenges among children from birth through eight years of age. The Early Childhood Consultation program is staffed with well-trained and compassionate staff who promote healthy youth, safe homes, and strong families.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct assessments, goal planning, and treatment for mental health and/or substance use issues, utilizing required instruments and formats within appropriate timelines. Develop and update strength-based treatment plans, continuing care plans, and discharge summaries; make timely referrals. Observe children and caregivers, assess diagnoses and mental status, and implement treatment plans based on clients' needs and functioning levels. Collaborate with clinicians, law enforcement, external providers, and psychiatrists to ensure comprehensive care. Work with children and caregivers on safety planning, symptom management, support system identification, and risk mitigation.
