Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20, and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital. Summary Of Responsibilities: The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) obtains specimens from patients and performs established clinical tests, follows procedures and interprets test results. Performs instrument and equipment maintenance. Reviews and follows requests for tests prescribed by the provider. Follows the established procedures when performing Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Serology, Molecular or newly developed procedures. Maintains confidentiality while working with patient results and provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere. Follows procedures and precautions when involved in direct patient contact or when handling potentially infectious materials. Requirements: Education: MLT - Associate degree or higher from an accredited university in Clinical Laboratory Science or related science. MT - Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university in Clinical Laboratory Science or related science. Licenses/Certificates: Must be registered and have a Board of Certification (BOC), or test eligible, in the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT). Experience: One (1) year experience as a Generalist.
